veracity of teh interweb

According to this article at Disinformation the SCA helped inspire the gothic subculture. Given that the history of goth shows that the subculture grew from the fandom and following of the various splinterings of British Punk rock, I am skeptical of this claim and view it as being more journalism gone astray.

I am curious to read other's comments on the article, Disinformation as a source of reliable info, the SCA, and anything else anyone finds worthy of venting about from the article.
