goin' to Orlando
Apr. 23rd, 2004 11:37 pmFor them that care, I'll be gone until next Saturday. There's a tech seminar down in Orlando that my work is sending me to (we bought a NAS system and the VAR added a ticket to the event). My son has spring break next week, so I'm taking him along too. We are planning on hitting Universal Studios parks on Saturday and Sunday, and Kennedy Space Center on Saturday. The money is going to be tight, but I think I can work it out and still manage to eat every day.
To say this week was hectic is an understatement. I worked about 55 hours this week. The closer Friday got, the more work appeared and landed on my desk. I left at least a half-dozen things I wanted done undone; there's two projects going that I assisted with that I am fairly convinced will go awry in my absence. Maybe someone will make the connection, maybe not.
There was zero work done on the house this week. My mortgage company screwed me. It's complicated, boring and the short version is that the check from my insurance company to pay the contractor had to be signed by my mortgage company. (actually companies, as I have a line o' credit as well.) Primary mortgage company next-day mailed forms, but then sent the damn check to my contractor regular mail from California to New Hampshire! I know these companies live on the float, but please! And then to add insult to injury, they didn't make the check out properly and we almost weren't able to get the bank to accept the deposit. At the end of the day, however, they did, work is to resume on Monday and that is good.
I hope this working vacation does me good. I have issues with my kids and school to deal with when I get back, as well as finishing getting divorced. I have a sneaking suspicion that May is going to make April look like a picnic.
