out of sync

I worked Saturday from 9pm to 1:30am, went home, back up at 5:30 and in until 8:30am. I got home and trying doing things to stay up, but by 10 I was falling asleep on my feet, so I figured I'd lay down and get a few hours of rest. After all, it's normally a challenge for me to get 6 hours of sleep a night, right? Not this time. Woke-up at 5:30pm! While I felt good, I'd now sucessfully flipped my days and nights around.

So I took my boys to the 9pm showing of the H2G2 movie. I generally liked it very much, but found myself being completely annoyed when they screen play didn't quote certain parts of the book verbatim. Just a few scenes which I knew well enough to antipate the lines, and then they didn't go quite like that. Not that is ruined the scene or anything. Just a bit disconcerting.

But, I did get another free clue why I relate to Mike like I do: after the first scene in the movie with Marvin, Mike exclaimed that he thought Marvin was awesome. Oh to be 15 again.

I'm a night owl by nature, but being more wide awake at 1am than at 5pm is getting to be a drag. I'll be able to get myself resorted this weekend, but in the mean time work is starting to suffer cause there are things that I don't want to go near for fear of breaking them. My manager was in there this weekend the entire time and is in worse shape than I am, so thankfully I'm not getting grief for being out of it in the middle of the afternoon.

I did go out at lunch to the court house. They have this nice form for filing a small claim which I plan on filling out tomorrow night after work. The only real gotcha that I can see right now is that for claims over $1,500 the defendant has the option to ask for a jury trial in superior court. But, I'm thinking that would work to my advantage as well, because then interrogetories and depositions will then be in play. With those, I can ask him to produce receipts and bank statements together with deposing all the subcontractors for what they charged vs. what they were paid. Then I can trace where all the money went, which I would think is the absolute last thing he want done. He got $85k to rebuild my house, and I seriously doubt if he put so much as $65 into it. One way or another I will find out the truth. And hopfully be five grand to the better for having done so. What I need to find out now is if he opts for the jury trial, can I raise the damages from the small claims limit of $5k to the actual of around $12k? Not that I need to be greedy; I can live with only R25 insulation in the attic, but being able to bring it up to code and make it R30 will save on heating costs. And there are other corners that he cut that I could improve on as well.

Tomorrow the new contractors are supposed to start. They were supposed to start Monday but that got miscommunicated, so I'm not betting on them with real money quite yet.
