Had a nice day today. Yesterday was my youngest's birthday, but it was very late when her mom and I got back from the store so we did the cake-n-ice cream thing today at lunchtime. I read the kids some books, Elyssia played with her new dolls with Sam and we all had a good time in general.

I took Sam to the concert tonight. Kimberley Dahme opened and was incredible. A very strong singer and decent guitarist. She took time at the intermission to meet people in the lobby. After we spoke with her, Sam asked me if we could get her autograph. So we got back in line and I bought a CD and gave Sam the insert to get signed. Samantha got her autograph. I got a hug. :-) Kimberley was *incredibly* nice to Sam, and thanked me for wearing my Boston "Corporate America" concert t-shirt which I thought was cool, given that this was a fund raiser and most people were more dressed-up. I told Kimberley that she needed to convince Tom (Schultz, lead guitarist of Boston) to let him put her mischevious laugh at the end of the last track on the new album (which is being written and recorded this year!). She laughed and said she'd try. So if it happens, you heard it here first, boys and girls!

Shawn Colvin was amazing. She's a natural story teller, and worth it to see from that aspect alone. Sam was starting to fall asleep shortly after 10, so we didn't stay for her whole set. She's on tour in August, so maybe I'll try to catch her again then. But! Tori Amos is coming back to Boston in August as well, so there'll be some decision-making to be done.
