Yesterday, this article ran in Editor and Publisher talking about how Mr John Seigenthaler, Sr. had written an Op-Ed piece for USA Today about his bio on wikipedia, and how that bio contained incorrect information that he considered slanderous.

I sent an e-mail to Mr. DeFoore with some comments on his article. This morning he e-mailed back, asking if he could publish it. Naturally, I said yes, and he published it, along with several others, this afternoon.

I wrote back, thanked him, and said I thought it was a gutsy move to publish Mr. Brandt's letter. I also told him I hope he doesn't wear out the delete key on his keyboard trying to keep up with the e-mail from the wikipedia-apologists. In his defense, Mr. DeFoore did point out that he's not an anti-wikipedian, just that he thinks the oversight is too lax.

I've not contributed to Wikipedia. Yet. I have commented on a few articles and have bookmarked two with intentions for contributing to them once I get beyond dealing with my house and the insurance company. I don't know what to make of this whole issue. I can see valid points on boths sides of the debate. But, I still think that Mr. Seigenthaler was less than genuine in his criticisms.
