Jan. 6th, 2006 11:38 pmThis is inspired by one of
mentalageof_4's posts. It's her birthday today (click here and wish her a happy birthday!).
Today is my oldest daughter's birthday, she's 9. Of all my kids, her birthday is the one that doesn't make me feel old. I'm not sure why and don't want to mess that up by overthinking it. I got her a CD player. And a CD, cause what good is a CD player without anything to put in it? She was delighted. It's exciting and scary watching her grow-up. I got her Enya's new CD. No pop-crap for my daughter, thank you very much. Besides, she's still not interested in most of that, thankfully.
The first time I thought about how old I would be in 2000 was 1977. I was turning 13 and that year Easter fell on my birthday. Being 13 and trying to think about how you would be at 35 is a freaky thing. Being 40 and thinking about how you were at 35 and 13 is, well, sometimes a freaky thing. My daughter will be 35 in 2032. I would be 67, if I'm still around. Yeah, 35 in 2000 and 70 in 2035. There's that symmetry thing again.
