Feb. 10th, 2006 12:43 amI got Tori Amos' new dvd Fade to Red in the mail today. Most of these videos I've not seen before. (I've actually not had MTV or VH1 or any cable TV for most of my life. It's a long boring story, don't ask.) While I thoroughly enjoyed the music and the videos, it's her commentaries that really make this collection special.
It's difficult for me to not anticipate what things about a particular video that she might have to say. I was sort of disappointed that she didn't comment on the girl who had this huge, gorgeous tattoo on her back in the Bliss video. But, that's not where her focus was. It's definitely a get-to-know-you type of experience, with her sharing these very personal insights and thoughts and feelings about her work. I very much like her honesty and candor about it all. So much music is over-priced crap these days (I had to stop myself at Borders the other day from buying the new Bon Jovi cause I like the title song, cause I knew that at least half the rest of the tracks were going to be "filler" quality), but at twenty bucks, this was more than worth the money.
