bad news comes in threes
Aug. 7th, 2006 09:47 pmToday I told my CIO via an on-going e-mail conversation that if the developers making the html and java changes aren't going to be responsible for them, that I'll have my written resignation for my manager tomorrow morning, because the stress of being unemployed without so much as a pending interview will be easier to deal with in the long-term.
The development team director actually had the stupidity to say that he wants his team to be able to make changes to only the programs the applications analysts tell them to, without having to be responsible for locating all the files necessary to make the change work. The net result of this would be said application folks looking to me to find and validate the files needing changed (I'm the systems engineer for the box hosting the app). As if I'm not already doing enough, I honestly have no time for that.
I don't know if I'm going to be asked to resign, but I'm completely at peace with doing so if it comes to that.
In the saga of the scumball contractor, I got a notice in the mail today that he has filed for bankruptcy. He filed in March of this year and was granted discharge at the end of May. Now that he's been arrested twice--once on my complaint, once on the complaint filed by the drywall contractor he stiffed--he's filed a request to amend his bankruptcy filing to add the two of us and one other subcontractor. I don't know what happens if he gets picked-up on the latest outstanding warrant if he has to post bond, or not.
All is not lost. Most, but not all. I have two avenues of recourse: I can ask the debt he owes me not be discharged if he improperly filed his request (which I have to prove), or I can ask the case be converted to chapter 11 and he be subject to a repayment schedule. I have a ton of reading ahead of me, but I will figure this out. Fortunately, I have until October 3rd to file my reply.
First, I need to get his attorney to send me a copy of the complete filing, which she neglected to do when she sent the notice that I was being added. How nice of her to not do that, eh?
Oh yes, no concert yesterday, distance and time were against me. There's another concert next Sunday, so I'll try again next week. But I still had the two kids with me after getting Mike in the afternoon, so it was all good.
