weekend update
Oct. 16th, 2006 02:23 amI went to the house today. I got Brandon a book on using Blender, an open source graphics program. He'd been asking me about it for awhile, since we had been to Borders and I declined to pay the $50 full-retail for new guide book for the 2.4 version. I finally remember to look for it today, and found that Amazon had it for $33.00. The downside there is 3 weeks for delivery, but I found a used copy of the 2.0 version for six bucks including shipping that he ought to get by the end of the week. So, a good day with him there.
Elyssia got some books for me to read to her, so I sat down at the dinning room table and read to her and Sam. One of the books was a Disney version of the Peter Pan story about Tinker Bell. A few pages into it, Elyssia announced that she remembed that "Tinker Bell doesn't exist in this world." I said "What?!!?!?" and she just laughed. Then she said "one night was thinking about Tinker Bell, and I looked out my window, and she wasn't there!" So I made both her and Sam clap their hands and say "I believe in Fairies!" three times.
She's FIVE. She takes great delight in being a little kid, and even moreso in being a little girl. But sometimes she takes liberties with turning on the charm and at the same time being so matter-of-fact about stuff. And she's well aware of the affect on people she has.
It was a nice way to end the weekend, though. This week I have an 8am meeting everyday but Friday, and Friday we will probably be meeting with the assitant principal for special ed at Dan's school to get his schedule fixed. Plus I have to get started on my complaint for the bankruptcy court, given that the judge didn't find in my favor this past Wednesday. He did acknowledge that I'd been prejudiced by what's happened, given that I've incurred a bit over $100 in costs in Small Claims court. But, that wasn't enough to overcome the broad application of the Bankruptcy Law. So now I have to write a formal complaint for an "adversarial proceeding". Bascially, I get to sue in the bankruptcy court.
But, I first have to find out if it's a "core", which the judge was nice enough to point out to me. He actually made a point of finding the rule (7008) and reading the pertinate part to me, much to the anoyance of the idiot's attorney. My first problem is that the rules don't define core or non-core, so I have to google that and go from there. More fun that anyone ought to be allowed to have, I am sure.
