retail therapy
Jan. 13th, 2007 06:22 pmI went out with intentions of hitting the coin shop and then stopping at my favorite eating establishment for some food and Guinness. Frank at the coin shop is holding something for me, and I've not been in since the week before the week before Christmas. But neither he nor it (1838 Large Cent in VF+) is going anywere, and I really don't need or have the money to drop right now.
Instead, I had a change of heart and went to the mall. The post-holiday slash-and-burn sales were in full swing. I got a dress shirt, a black mock-turtleneck shirt, and a really wild sweater. It's four shades of brown, and tan, and purple, and I can wear it with the black shirt to work. Together, it was over a hundred bucks full retail, but I scored it for a mere twenty-five. (It's this sort of positive financial experience that reinforces my procrastinatory behavior.) I also picked-up a new wall calendar for at work, so we can have a reference point for planning discussions that seem to take place in my cube more often than anywhere else. It's deep space photos from the Hubble telescope.
I also hit the Lindt store. Cause it's always the right time for chocolate.
None of it is really anything I had to have, but all of it is stuff I can make use of, so it wasn't completely frivilous. I can now look forward to a quiet night of watching football and cleaning up around here. I gotta find my flannel sheets. It's finally getting very cold at night here and it's time to put the warm sheets on the bed. If I can find them. There's only so many places around here they can be. Maybe the dryer ate them. I hope not, they are toasty warm and the idiot in charge of the thermostat won't turn it up past 65.
