Today was Wiretap the Internet day. Basically, today was the day by which all ISP had to give the Feds backdoor access to their networks, and through them, to the Internet. Welcome to 1984, don't step in the surveillance.

Also today, the EPA released their Revised Estimated Miles per Gallon for automobiles. Click the link to see what they say your car should be getting you now. My van sucks even more, but I already knew that from experience.

The EPA also shows how the cars are tested, which involves no wind resistance, reduced overcoming of the inertia of the vehicle, and neither the heater nor the air conditioner in use. Granted, once the testing is done, the EPA does knock another 10% off the results in an attempt to account for this, but more real-world conditions on an actual test track would be more credible, I think.
