Job hunt: Of the three resumes I've sent out, I heard back about two of the jobs today. They are both through headhunters, so not terribly meaningful other than the positions are still open and my resumes are being forwarded.
Current Job: I've apparently all too smoothly transitioned into "I'm outta here mode". I've spent this week writing documentation about what it is I've been doing the last 6 years, gathering pertinate documents I've collected and created in that time to pass on to those remaining, and have started to clear my desk.
I also passed on this article to my manager and the CIO with a message that I hope they find it useful in hiring my replacement. I honestly meant that, but yeah, it's also bit of a jab back at the CIO for seriously not getting it.
I later found out today that the position is going to be posted inside the company first. There are 3 other of the windows and network engineers who I'm sure could easily make the transition to Unix engineer. But, none of them have any storage admin experience, so they are apparently still going with the option of doing on the cheap.
Court: Still no Summary Judgment motions from the opposition, but his attorney did file Objections to my two previous motions. Apparently he's ill and "has a limited life expectancy at the current time", and she's asking that he be excused for being two months late with his reply on that basis.
Well, last time I checked, that was the case for all of us. Harsh, but true, and I am so tempted to put that in my reply to the Objection, but I won't. Among other things, he's got Hepatitis C (she put it in the Objection in a document open to the public, so I don't believe I'm violating any confidences here). Hep C., while not always, is often acquired through poor personal choices, i.e. drug use, unsafe sex, or unsafe tattooing. I've no clue how he manage to get it, but I honestly don't have any sympathy for him. If this makes me a bad person, well... this isn't a new label or much of a surprise, sorry to disappoint.
Anyway, I'm still going to ask the Judge to not let him off the hook, because he appeared at Hearings on 5/9. 6/27, and 7/23, and at none of those hearings was a request for extended time made. Sounds like three strikes to me, but, as always, that's up to the Judge to judge.
