I'd like to be remembered as somebody who made people laugh and then all of a sudden made people cry.
-- Julia Louis-Dreyfuss
I'm watching "Inside the Actors Studio". It is a positively Brilliant show. I caught the last half-hour of Hugh Laurie. who is just incredible. Juila Louis-Dreyfuss was funny start to finish. They now have Dave Chappelle on. It's always startling to me to find that I relate in a very intimate way to someone who I never would have considered relating to at all.
Dave said that when he went to kindergarden, it was like all the other kids had all met before and all knew each other, and he was the outsider.
Wow! Can I relate to that!
I hated kindergarden. About half-way through the year I didn't want to go back, but, of course I had to. First grade was better. The second or third day of first grade I got moved to a different class. This class was using the "new" method to teach reading. It was called color reading, and was intensely phonetically oriented--as opposed to the rote memorization of the traditional method. But by second grade I was back to being the outsider and have stayed there since.
