I finally have my DSL up and in use. Verizon was zero help. Actually, Verizon was less than zero help, with 3 phone calls and 2 on-line tech support sessions getting me exactly no where. Turns out that the PC's DHCP service was set to "manual" instead of "automatic". You'd think that the number of times people have called with the messages "An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The RPC server is unavailable." when doing "ipconfig /renew" would have clued them in to add this to their worthless diagnostics on the install CD, or at least to have it added to the phone script for their phone support staff, but no. Thank god for google, at the least.

This was the big accomplishment for the day. Tomorrow I'm going to do my first draft of the pre-trial brief (final version of which is due Friday!), and then I have a phone interview from which I am hoping Very Big Things will happen.

In the meantime, I'm looking at ebaying some of my sports memorabilia. The contract job I'm doing, while indeed very helpfull in financial department, just isn't going to provide anywhere near the hours to be a dependable source for covering the bills, and starting next month that is going to be an issue. I have a football signed by three members of the New England Patriots after their first Super Bowl win in 2001 that should fetch something, I just have to figure out what. I also have a few other items, including a penant from the 1960s of theCleveland Barons AHL hockey team. There aren't any on ebay now, nor have any been listing in the last 30 days, so there's no pricing data for this either. Sometimes stuff like this is a fun challenge, sometimes it's dead-end, but there's only one way to find out, and that's put it out there and see what happens. Kinda like how my job search has been going.
