I feel like I've been driving all day
Feb. 19th, 2008 11:14 pmI've had a busy, busy day. Started out this morning driving Brandon to the court house. Once there I found out he was going to have to sit through all of the preliminary stuff before he could find out if he could be excused, so I drove home. At noon, I drove back to the court house to pick him up, and from there we drove to the mall (got him a new blazer), a quick stop at Taco Bell to grab him some lunch, and then drive him back to the house.
Then I was off to Derry for my interview. It was scheduled from 2-5, but went to almost 6. I talked to the HR guy, the hiring manager, and three peers. After I finished with the last guy (a peer) and was walking out, the manager tracked us down and asked if I could come back Thursday morning and talk to a couple other IT guys and to *his* boss, who is an Executive VP. Naturally, I said "no problem!".
Then it was the hour drive back to the house, picked-up Brandon, drove an hour to Dover to get him back to school, then the hour drive back to Concord. I stopped at the Barley House to grab a guinness and some food. Unfortunately, I got there after 9:30 and the kitchen was closed. Mechelle, God bless her, got them to make me some chicken flautus, which goes very well with the guinness. But even without the food, getting to see her for a few minutes was more than worth taking the time to stop in.
I figure I drove about 6 hours today. That's a lot of time to spend behind the wheel to end-up back where I started. If it was just the physicality of it, that would be one thing; but I got Brandon where he needed to be and back to school, and then if I can score this job, well, that's worth all the driving I did today, will do Thursday, and then some.
