I have a new job. Sort of. I got the verbal offer on Friday and accepted in principle. I was supposed to get the formal offer in writing today, but they hadn't checked my references yet. So I got to wait another day for that to get done. I hope it happens tomorrow, so I can quit my part-time job.
I had planned on giving a two-week notice, but apparently the manager is off this week and didn't tell me which means no hours for me this week, so no sense sticking around. The Agency which employs me for this gig is going to be unhappy about that, but they've not done much of anything to manage this either. Once I get all that unpleasantness behind me, I hope to be able to start next Monday. I need the cash, so I'm hoping my new employer will be just as happy to have me start early as I'll be to get on with it.
In the meantime, this week is winter vacation, and I have my little kids with me during the day until 3. Except that Sam has the flu. I told Elyssia that if Sam is better by Friday, that we can all go to Chuckie Cheese's for some fun. She was so cute about it: "But Dad, it's not anybody's birthday!" I then told her we could go just because, even if it wasn't anyone's birthday, and have all the fun we wanted there. She smiled this smile like I'd told her we had some fiendish plot to take over the world.
I love being a Dad.
