prgrmr: (just shoot me)
I took my van into the dealer this morning. They got the replacement computer yesterday and the replacement today was without trouble. Unfortunately, it was also without effect, as 10 minutes down the highway, I got the wipers to fail again. Only this time I think I've definitively got the method for failure down, so I can show the dealer what the deal really is.

Then at work I got texted from my very upset son that the electricity at the house got turned off. The electric bill was one of the last items to be caught-up, and this Thursday when I get paid was to be the day. Instead I got to abuse my credit card this morning to get the power back on. Tomorrow when I'll have more time to deal with it here in the morning before I got to work, I have to call the electric company and find out why I didn't get a shut-off notice. I strongly suspect that they are only required to do those in the winter, which I find completely ridiculous, but what's done is done. Or not done, actually.

On the up-side, today at work I finally got the software engineering group to agree with meet with IT to discuss support issues and mutual projects. Today's meeting was 90% a planning meeting for the future ones; however, the hard part was accomplished in that we got the ball rolling, and my manager and the SDE manager are all on board. This ought to make for an easier time for me prioritizing and scheduling my work. Then after the meeting, we had a bonus meeting where there was actual agreement, in principle, to the order and timing of my two major projects. Now if I can only get the back-up system to produce an ad-hoc back-up for archiving off-site, I'll have set the bar for a week's worth of success even higher.
