slacking off
Jul. 24th, 2008 11:20 pmI should be packing more, but today is catching-up with my back. I did two loads of books and other stuff moved over, including my biggest book shelf. I had to decide tonight where to start putting things so I could reassemble and repopulate the shelf with books so I could reuse the boxes. That took a lot longer than I was counting on, but having the boxes was vital. I can try to grab a couple more from work tomorrow.
I still have a book shelf, my computer and printer stand, the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom to pack. The last three will be easy. I'm so not looking forward to to packing and moving my desk and computer. I should burn some back-ups to CDs. Maybe I can get that going tomorrow night between packing books and the kitchen.
These things always cost more money than I count on. The new kitchen is easily twice as large as the one here, but actually has less counter space, so I have to get something to put the microwave on. But a pleasant surprise was my new landlord calling me to let me know that a new stove is being delivered on Monday. I am so psyched by this. The stove that in there now is an old GE electric that maybe nearly as old as me (it's got the push-button controls for the burners), so having something new to play with and actually be able to cook on will be awesome.
I also have to get the usual stuff like shelf-paper, a new shower curtain, and some more window curtains. I have a couple set of curtains that may work, but only one of the window blinds here will be usable there. I'm also going to have to get another air conditioner, as there's no circulation on the first floor at all. The "front" door is actually on the side of the house and opens right to the stairs to the second floor, which effectively isolates the living room at the front of the house from the rest.
I had fan in one of the bedroom window's upstairs and did alright for both rooms. So putting one a/c up and one down should take care of things. I hope.
