The Letter Game
Aug. 31st, 2008 08:35 pmI got this from
rufus, if you want to play along, hit me with a request.
Ten things I like that start with the letter "S", in no particular order:
1. Serenity: One of my favorite movies, highly recommended to everyone, except my parents who would disapprove of the language and gratuitous violence.
2. Simon and Garfunkel: Oddly enough, introduced to me indirectly by said parents via snooping through their record collection at a very early age, 7 or 8.
3. Saving Pvt. Ryan: The most intense opening 10 minutes in movie history. The rest of the movie isn't bad either.
4. Smothers Brothers: They were my introduction to comedy at the very impressionable age of 4. That should explain a few things about me, for those who were wondering.
5. Space: Of all the places I've wanted to go in life, it's the one place I'll never get to. But I never get tired of learning more about it.
6. Sun Sets: I've not seen nearly as many spectacular sun sets in New Hampshire as I did in Ohio, which makes it even better when it happens. With all the rainy days we've had this year, it's happened a bit more often than usual.
7. Semiotics: I've been reading Umberto Eco's collection of essays, wherein he talks about Semiotics, the study of symbols, signs, sign systems, and how meaning is constructed and understood. I wish I'd discovered this earlier.
8. Sesame Street: I watched the first episode. I can remember how excited my mom was that this was going to be on. I didn't understand that until much later. I watched it every day for years, until 4th or 5th grade. I count having me watch Sesame Street as one of the best things she did for me.
9. Seduction: Nothing appeals to the ego more than to be seduced; nothing feels more accomplished than a successful seduction.
10. Samantha: my oldest daughter, my source of surprise, my pride and joy.
