We Shopped, We Found, Wii Purchased
Dec. 16th, 2008 11:59 pmMy Danny-boy is going to have a very nice Christmas. After almost resigning myself to buying a Wii console on-line and hoping it would arive on time and intact, I took the time tonight at Walmart to see if they had any, and they did. They actually had a dozen which was very surprising, as everywhere else I'd looked had none.
I hate to admit it, but I am actually very relaxed about Christmas this year. Normally I hate, even despise this time of year. The commercialism, the fakery, the holier-than-thou-ness being slung and flung in all directions. But, not having to worry about having money to buy my kids presents is an indescribable stress reducer. I'm sure this says much about how shallow I can be, but it also is in contrast to this time last year when I was still looking for full time work and worrying about getting enough hours in to make the bills and buy a few gifts.
This past weekend helped in a big way. Between the power outage, the generator failing, and having to bring all the systems back up once power was restored, I got 11 hours of on-call time in. More than enough to blow-off a few bills from this paycheck to be covered next when the pay for that will come through, enabling me to spend what I did for Dan. And all of them, really. The system comes with the Sports game, and I got a second game Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz (the name alone will amuse Elyssia) that has 50 different games with all sorts of activities. I'll probably pick-up another one to go with it. Dan is a big Sonic fan, so I'll check out what's available for the Wii.
