Having a migraine at girls basketball game sucks in fantastical ways that I'd rather not ever experience again. This was Sam's last scheduled game, and they won big. It was close in the first half, but they came out strong and determined in the third quarter and held the other team scoreless. In the fourth when they went up by 20, they had to stop using the full-court press and the other team caught-up some, but Sam's team still won easily. They finished their schedule undefeated. Next week they have play-offs, which surprised me, given that this is just an instructional league. They beat the other three 5th-6th grade girls teams three times each, so they should do well.

Sam had only two shots and didn't sink either, but got several rebounds and created a few jump balls. She also indirectly created a jump ball covering two girls at once in front of the girl with the ball, leaving her no where to pass to and one of Sam's teammates finished the job wrestling for the ball.

I took her to Friendly's after the game; one of her classmates had handed out free ice cream cone coupons (try saying that five times, fast) yesterday with her valentine's day cards, so we went to cash it in. Afterward I went home, medicated myself, and crashed for a few hours. Finally, whatever gremlins were shoving hot knives through my temples relented and I was able to extract myself from under the covers without fear of imploding in the sunlight. It also helped that by that time there wasn't much sunlight left to contend with.

I want to take Sam to go see Coraline. I hope to be able to do that tomorrow.
