Today is Samantha's birthday. She's 13. Yes, I am now the father of a teenage girl--pray for me!
She asked if she could bring brownies with her to basketball practice tonight. So last night I made a batch and we brought them along. They had a short practice session, and then a half hour scrimmage against a 7th & 8th grade girls team. It was good for Sam's team, not because the other girls were older and taller, but because they were the first teams they've played--ever--that were just as good, if not a bit better. Sam and all five of her teammates where red-faced and sweaty after practice. They aren't like that after most of their games so far this season, so they at least got a good workout in. This, I hope, will be good preparation for their game this Saturday, especially after having the prior two weekends off.
The brownies were a hit, and all the girls sang "Happy Birthday" to her too. It was a good night.
