unexpected turn of events

I got a pay raise. Despite only being at the company for a little over 5 months, I was given a pay raise along with everyone else in the company's regular performance review process. Granted, it was half of what I qualified for, but still, something is better than nothing. And even more importantly, I greatly appreciate the tangible expression of gratitude from by my manager for my work. Of course, this has now got me holding out some amount of hope for getting something of a bonus in March when they are paid. I'm already thinking dangerous thoughts, like getting a new computer system and perhaps--dare I say--a real cell phone. I'm torn between the Droid and the latest iPhone.
