just meandering along
Jul. 23rd, 2005 04:03 pmAnother weeks goes by and I don't feel like I have too much to show for it. Finally got my car fixed after four trips to two different dealers. Net results: body module computer was bad as the KIA dealer said, not the wiring that the GM dealer was guessing might be the problem; however, the wiring would have been covered under the warranty from KIA (where I bought it last year), but the computer isn't. C'est le Vie. At least I have a working vehicle, and one with AC and not overheating.
Lots going on at work, not much to show there either. Moving more systems to the new data center, incluing another round tonight at midnight, this group being the HP Unix systems. My co-worker and manager move one box yesterday. It took them 5 hours. I moved a similar sized IBM system last month in an hour. I hope now my manager has a more direct appreciation for the difference between someone saying they are prepared, and then actually being prepared and capable. We've 3 systems on the docket tonight, two to be done by me, one by co-worker. Our manager is going to be working with IBM on another system (SSA cache battery change). Going to be interesting to see who finishes first.
(yeah, I'm a guy and it's unavoidably all competition)
RenFaires probably aren't going to happen this year. I'm not in the mood and really shouldn't be spending the money. Maybe by the time CTRF roles around I'll think differently. Missed both faires at Hammond Castle for the first time in 3 years though. I feel a bit sad and a bit blasé about it all at the same time.
I have gotten some more stuff done and in the works for the house, but don't feel like expounding on it. I want to be able to use my journal as a reference point for this, but lately am so fatigued with rehashing it all. Evidentally the idiot has replied to my complaint, and we've a court date on September 15. Now the really hard work begins. I have over 20 documents, photos and physical evidence that, along with references to the pertinate laws, I need to boil down to an under-30 minute presentation. I also need to find someone to practice on other than the Ex cause she's not objective enough. That's not a slam against her as neither am I, hence the need. I'll probably pester one of my brother's over the phone with it.
