I did something today I've not done in three years: I cut the grass at my house. The house fire happend in January of 2004, so I figure the last time I cut the grass was in the fall of '03. We got it seeded this summer, and it really needed to be done a month ago, but I didn't get around to getting the lawn mower refurb'd until this past week.

It was weird. It's my house, but I don't live there anymore. It's my yard, but it's all different now. The monster lilac bushes are gone. The bare spots where the granite rocks were coming through are gone. There's more grass coverage in that yard now than there's ever been. The landscapers came in with a bobcat and scraped up the top 6" or so of rock and dirt, and hauled it away. The yard, front and back, was so full of glass there wasn't any other way to deal with it. They dug-up at least a ton of rocks and small boulders doing it. At one point there was a 4' hole in the yard where they removed a couple of the larger ones.

I just cut the front, but that was more than enough. I'd not really drank much water before I went over, and it didn't take too long for that to show. I was wiped-out when I was done, in a cold sweat and very thirsty. You'd think at my age that I would know better, but apparently not.

Mike needed paintball money for this weekend (he's down on the Cape playing in a tourney all weekend), so I told him if he did the leaves and cleaned-up the mower so I could take it to get repaired, which he did, so I did. The back still has piles of leaves and pine needles and the back isn't done yet, so he's got another money-making opportunity ahead of him for this week.

I got chinese food for the the kids and everyone yesterday. I had the fortune cookie from mine today, which informs me that I'll have good luck in the Spring. I'm going to take that as a sign for when to put the house up for sale, which conveniently matches when school is out and the market picks up.

Now I have to stop procrastinating. I have to read the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure in preparation for my hearing on Wednesday. I think I've a fairly solid arguement for having the judge dimiss the part of the motion involving me, leaving me free to continue my pursuit in Small Claims court. I just need to get a handle on the rules so I don't blow my 5 minute presentation. His attorney already made a procedure goof, which means she's not 100% up on the rules; I don't want or need to make the same mistake.
