perspective
Nov. 16th, 2006 08:44 pmMy daughter Elyssia got hurt at school today. Someone opened the door to the restroom and caught her in the forehead with it. She got a 2" gash in her head for her troubles. 16 stiches later, she's all fixed up. She's home eating strawberry ice cream right now--cause if you get hurt, you get ice cream. That's the rule.
She tried being so brave when they stiched her. But the doc covered her face with sterile cloth and not being able to see her mom freaked her out. That, and towards the end I think the lidocaine was wearing off, given her response. But, the doctor was decent enough to pause long enough for us to calm her down and she was very good while he put the final stiches in.
Tomorrow I have to go in the the school and get her backpack and sweater (we're going to keep her home) and find out why they didn't think they needed to call 911, and if the school nurse was being serious when she said that Elyssia "might need a stitch or two". I'm thinking her response to hearing that she got 16 will be telling.
