I have the nicest kid in the world
Mar. 31st, 2007 08:15 pmMy son Brandon is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I know this because I have had all sorts of people tell me this since he started school and really started to be his own person. Today, he just raised the bar on himself.
He was helping his mom do a craft show. She makes candles, soaps, incense, and some other stuff and has various accessories. She probably had a grand worth of stuff with her. The show is held at the local hockey arena (New Hampshire is like Canada in that respect: every town large enough to have it's own high school has a hockey arena) and been an annual event since we've lived here. Today, it was a complete bust. I don't know if they under-advertised it, or what, but it was dead. I got there with the little ones just after 1, and it was dead. There might have been 20 people in the place who weren't crafters, and apparently no one was buying.
Brandon had overheard one of the ladies near them saying that she hoped she could just make enough money to take home a pretty pink candle. At the end of the show, Brandon asked his mom if he could "please borrow a candle", and then grabs a pink one and goes racing over to give it to the lady he heard talking about it. She was overwhelmed. Then, he askes if he could pick something out for his mom as a swap, and brings her back a stone pendant.
So my Ex is telling me all this tonight (she brought clothes over for Sam, cause I rescued her from the craft show and brought her home with me), and trying not to cry as she does. Because, the kicker is that he doesn't do this for attention or a pat on the back, he just does this stuff to be doing it. I hope he can always be that considerate and generous.
On a completely unrelated note, I have to start saving to be able to go here some day!
