Parker Posey
May. 31st, 2007 10:59 pmHow in the world did I manage to live as long as I have and be as big a fan of the movies as I am and not have seen any of her work up until now?
I bought "Superman Returns" last Friday and watched it (I missed mentioning it in my last movie review posting). Posey plays Luthor's girlfriend. Lex is played by Kevin Spacey--and remarkably well. But, there was more than one instance where Posey stole the scene from him.
So Monday I rented "Fay Grim", her latest work. I didn't get to watch it until last night, between writing for court and dealing with kid stuff. The movie is interesting. The story and characters are compelling, funny, and clever. Posey was captivating. (But I might be biased.) It clearly has that "indie" look to it, and the director's style took me a bit of getting used to.
I'm going to have to get more of her movies. She's been in a wide range of stuff, so this should be fun. Not that I have tons of time for it now, but it'll keep me busy throughout the summer. She did an interview for a magazine where she comes across as someone who is trying to be a regular person while trying to enjoy working in an industry populated with people who are anything but normal.
