9 days of work left. 13 calendar days to unemployment. And I couldn't care less.

Yeah, this is a small problem, and in two weeks going to quickly become a big problem. But tomorrow's a new day, and new days are for dealing with old problems.

Yeah, that's it. Thaaaaaaaaat's the ticket!

The concert yesterday was that combination of sad and awesome and eventually evoked the inevitable question, "Why does it take someone dying to make something like this happen?" And even though it wasn't exactly phrased that way, several of the performers managed to dance around the theme enough to get the point across.

The Boston spin-off bands RTZ and Ernie and the Automatics played. Then a few "local" bands: Farenheit, Extreme, and Godsmack. Then Boston played for over an hour. "More than a feeling" was clearly the best effort of the night. The final number (which I honestly cannot recall which song it was, but I want to say it was "Don't look back") was played by an ensamble of everyone who has ever been in the band except drummer Sib Hashem (even though he was there and played with Ernie and RTZ). It was good, but not great. The emotion was there, but not over the top. Tom Scholtz rambled way too much with the intro's and clearly took the wind out of the collective sail. But, it was cool the way Barry Goudreau more or less stole the song with his guitar solo.

They played a 15 minute montage of interviews and home movies about Brad Delp. It was narrated by his daughter, which was the perfect touch. He was such a cool guy. His death was so sad, not just because it was the end of an amazing and kind and caring man, but because all the joy that he brought to his fans got cut short. He left a legacy that extends beyond his childred, his family, and his friends. His fans last night showed that they still love him, his work, and now his memory.

If I have half as much to show for my life at the end of it, I will be fortunate and accomplished.
