I can be a bit more specific about what's going on with my son Mike, as this article appears in today's Concord Monitor.

Mike is friends with both these guys. Fortunately, Mike was not involved with the incident (he was at work), and what little he knew about after the fact turned out to be of little consequence. He went to the Pembroke police on Wednesday to talk with them. He was not arrested nor is he likely to be.

What complicated all of this is this past Monday the Concord and Pembroke cops had a warrant to search my house, as Richard had been staying there with Mike off and on throughout the summer. The warrant was for Richard and for his stuff, nothing of Mike's or anyone elses. Yes, all my kids were there at the time. The Concord cops deliberately waited until their mom went to the store to start the search. The SWAT team from Concord was there, along with a half-dozen other Concord cops and four or five from Pembroke. Yeah, it was insane.

I got to the house about 30 minutes after it all started. By then the SWAT guys were packing up and leaving and within another 15 minutes, there was just one cop from Concord and 2 from Pembroke, waiting for the Lt. from Pembroke to arrive and finish the search.

I personally believe that this was as much about justifying budgets and equipment and staffing for the Concord PD as it was serving the warrant. Particularly because the police had caught Richard before they started the search.

Among other things, they were looking for a gun, which they didn't find at the house. I personally don't know if there even was a gun. I don't know if they have video tape from the store showing he had a gun, or if the other kid just said so to try and make it a good story.

One of the reasons why my kids are all in Maine right now is because the Concord cops dusted the place for fingerprints. There is dust everywhere. Both my Ex and my son Brandon were having their asthma triggered by the dust, so they had to get out of the house. Tuesday I am meeting someone from my insurance company to see if they can get someone in to clean the walls, ceilings, and floors.

This is going to get more complex and crazy before it gets better. My Ex is now wanting to sell the house and is thinking about moving to Maine permanently. I completely understand why. Tuesday and Wednesday the Concord cops, in both marked and unmarked cars, were driving by the house and around the neighborhood all day. There are rumors of even more direct and covert surveillance going on. I wouldn't want to have to live with that, and am not at all happy about the prospect of my kids having to live like that.

However, her living in Maine isn't exactly an acceptable long-term solution either. But right now I have to take this one step at a time.
