I forget who pointed out 43things.com in their lj, so feel free to speak-up and claim the credit. On a boredom-motivated whim I was poking around there tonight and started my own list. I'll be 43 in a couple of months and couldn't pass on this sort of serendipity.

I took the kids to Chuckie Cheese's today. We waiting in line for about 25 minutes before we were allowed in. This made zero sense. They were trying to keep the attendance around 300, and were doing a very poor job of it. The door attendants were supposedly counting people leaving and those let in, but were doing very sloppy job of it. At one point while in line, I counted 42 people (adults and kids) going, and they only let in 20. The various licenses on display by the counter where the food is ordered state that the building has a capacity for 470. So what was so magical about 300 was a mystery.

Despite the delay, the kids had fun. The highlight is playing in the tubes that are suspended from the ceiling, which they spent over an hour doing. (For those unfamiliar, you can see an example here).

Ani DiFranco was in town tonight at the Capital Center for the Arts. I saw her back in November of 2006. I was planning to go, but today changed my mind and kept the kids here with me instead of taking them back to their mom. I'll have them all day tomorrow and Saturday too, so we'll probably get chinese food tomorrow at some point with what would have been the ticket money. And find something fun to get us out on Saturday.
