Mar. 30th, 2008 10:08 pmFor my birthday I'm going to get myself a passport. I'd love to go to Canada and do almost any of these 50 things to do in Canada, except that I don't want to go by myself. Number 49 has a lot of appeal, but would probably be one of the more expensive to travel to.
While undoubtedly nowhere near as extensive (or expensive) as a week of digging dinosaur bones in the Dakotas, The Dinosaur Park in Alberta looks like fun, and I could bring the kids.
For your amusement, the NY Times has a retrospective of Mad Magazine Fold-ins. When I was a kid, I prefered Cracked over Mad, in part because it was somewhat less expensive. But, I did like the Mad Fold-ins, and Spy Vs. Spy
And on a very sad note, Journalist Dith Pran died. Pran was a Cambodian who coined the phrase "the killing fields" about the Cambodian genocide. He founded The Dith Pran Holocaust Awareness Project to spread awareness of the genocide. He also was the inspiration for the motion picture The Killing Fields. Actor Haing Ngor who protrayed Pran in the movie won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. If you've not seen the movie, you should.
