Stress + ADHD = Insomnia
Jun. 25th, 2008 10:47 pmLife has been hectic and insomniant since last Friday. By Sunday I was experiencing sleep apnea, and Monday and Tuesday resorted to using Breath Right nasal strips and taking sudefed as the congestition was so bad I couldn't breath through my nose at all when lying down in any position. I don't have allergies, don't have a cold or flu, and have no idea what's causing this. I've change the carbon and the hepa filters in my air cleaner, done the laundry, and checked for bugs of various types in the house. I've been putting this off for years, but I suppose a trip to the doctors to get my apnea formally diagnosed is the thing to do. I am due for a physical anyway.
My interview on Tuesday went well. It was with Mirror Image, an internet content hosting company. They have a good team, the facilities (what I saw of them) aren't terrible, and they are right off of the highway. The drive shouldn't be any worse than what I do now, particularly because I can avoid Rt. 93 and take Rt. 3 instead. I'm not thrilled about paying Mass. state income tax, but then I've not gotten an offer so I may not have to worry about that ever.
I also applied for a job with a company in Cleveland. Partly because they had in the ad that it included paid relocation, and partly because it was AIX administration, which I could do in my sleep and I could use a cake-walk job. Except, I have no idea if I could actually move out of state and that far from my kids. As much as I may think about it, I know I'm not going to know until I'm faced with that reality, and I've not heard anything back about it. So this may be another no-worries deal too.
I've been bringing home stuff from my desk this week too. Tonight was the LL Bean fleece pull-over I had brought in early on when it was still cold and snowing, and my nice pen and pencil set that I got from Mike for christmas about 10 7 years ago. How the time flies! What's left is my books and radio/cd player. I don't want to be too terribly obvious, but at the same time I'm already starting to walk-away in my head, and had to start doing some clean-out just to satisfy the itch going on.
