Vacation 2008
Aug. 10th, 2008 08:42 pmThis year's vacation was spent mostly at home. But, unlike previous years, this year I very much feel like I have a home. My new place is working out, and best of all, my kids like it and immediately felt and made themselves at home here.
Mike helped me again on Thursday, this time bringing home an antique-ish (probably late 50's or early 60's) sideboard that now sits in the corner of my kichen with my microwave on it and flatware in the drawer. Then we went to see the movie Hancock, which was very good, and I definitely recommend it.
Friday when I get paid I have to get a dozen little things so I can finish upacking and setting things up. I am being deliberate because I very much want a place for everything and everything in it's place. So far I've been good about getting rid of anything for which I cannot find a place. I still have a lot of boxes of stuff to go through, stuff that's been in boxes for years. Most of that should be easy, and the rest may be near-impossible.
The top item on my shopping list is a stud finder. The walls are all plaster over slats, so knocking on the walls or looking against the wall for the slight bulge in the drywall won't work, and I have a few pictures to hang. Once I get that, my kitchen will be finished and the living room almost done. I'll post some photos after I get the pictures hung and the last of the books shelved. Which reminds me, I still need another shelf.
