back to the grind
Aug. 11th, 2008 10:53 pmWork was indeed work today. Nearly 400 e-mails to weed through, plus dealing with an on-going problem that started last Monday with symbolic links and and permissions getting changed on one of the shared partitions. While there was an impressive amount of work done by my two coworkers in IT when I was out to verify the scope of the problem, and what it most likely was and what it definitely was not; there wasn't a lot of apparent work by any of the developers to hunt down the real cause and stop it. So at the end of the day I e-mailed several members of management and said that we ought to be treating this as an internal hack. While we don't know that it is, we also have no assurances that it is not. Unfortunately, my manager's initial response was to table the issue until our standing afternoon meeting tomorrow.
I don't know if it's possible to be subtle with the extra-large clue stick, but it appears that tomorrow I'm going to get to find out.
