I got carded today at Walmart while buying an inhaler. This is getting old, if even I, apparently, don't apear to be. Granted, when the cashier rang it up, the register ask if the customer was over 18, but I'm sure I look at least 18. Most people who meet me for the first time that I have asked or it has otherwise come up in conversation think I'm about 30, and that's if I'm wearing a hat, or not.

I swear the cashier was high, because when I gave her my driver's license, she just looked at it like I had just handed her a blank piece of paper. She eventually called the supervisor over to check it, and the supervisor just quickly said it was fine and walked away with having barely given me a glance.

Most of the time I like at least not looking old. It helps make me feel less self-conscious about doing things with my little ones, and doing things like playing paintball with Mike (not that I've done that in quite some time). I've never been good at acting my age, and I really don't want to now. But maybe I should stop wearing hats. Or baseball caps, at least.

Maybe the cashier had just come from a training class about carding for various things - or was new to the job.

When we were in Minneapolis a few weekends ago, I got carded at a bowling alley where patrons over 21 have to wear a wristband. I know the policy is merely "card everyone" because that way nobody slips through, but I still found it amusing - I hadn't been carded in at least ten years, and that was when I bought a beer at a minor league hockey game.

The carding I can see, the checking with a manager?
Maybe she'd recently seen the movie with Robin Williams where he ages really quickly?
Not saying you look old, but you certainly look older than 21 :P
