We don't have time to plan, but we'll make time to do it again

and again, and again. Which ought to be our comapany's IT department's mantra. It's epidemic at the management level and so completely ingrained in the so-called "corporate culture" that they cannot see it.

While the new payroll system go-live wasn't a disaster, the only thing that was smooth was the rate at which the sarcasm was flowing. OK, mostly from me, and mostly under my breath, but still.

After four years I don't know why I'm still surprised and frustrated by this. Slow learner? Could be.

Sounds like a completely normal rollout for us. Heck, we even take systems to production knowing they're not fully functional and/or bugridden and just "fix them later."

Seems to be a fairly common theme, no?
