goin' with the flow
Mar. 18th, 2010 10:41 pmYesterday I tried to make airplane ticket money happen, and in the midst of my surfing for the cheapest ride possible, I find out that my daughter's MRI is scheduled for tomorrow at 3. So, close all those browser tabs, stop worrying about which airlines charge what for luggage, stop trying to figure out how to cram a suit, shirt, and tie into a suitcase full of travel and casual clothes and not have it look like you slept in it the night prior by the time you get to unpack it, and definitely stop worrying about just badly you were about to abuse your credit card, and focus. So I did.
I've arranged to work from home again tomorrow, even though I'm the help desk and designated point-man for the group this week. And I also arranged to have a coworker cover the help desk requests from 2-4(ish), with the promise not to complain when it's payback time.
Watching my daughter tonight at her big sister's band concert, she's the same as ever: full of energy, can't quite sit still for more than 2 minutes at a time, and a perpetual smile. I need to consciously remember that no matter what happens tomorrow, no matter what the MRI reveals, no matter what the doctor says it does or does not mean, that Elyssia is still going to be the same bouncy, happy little girl she was today, and every day.
